About MAT

The All India Management Association conducts the Management Aptitude Test. AIMA's pages say the test has been administered since 1988, and that the Ministry of Education approved it as a national-level test in 2003. Scores are used by management institutes that choose to accept them. AIMA says the score is valid for one year, and that a candidate may sit more than once.

The information for candidates for MAT December 2026, and the standing structure on mat.aima.in, give five sections of 30 questions: Language Comprehension, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, and Economic and Business Environment. That is 150 questions to be attempted over 120 minutes. The same pages say a wrong answer costs 0.25 marks, and that the overall score is based on all five sections. They do not print a separate time for each section.

A candidate may take a paper-based test, a computer-based test, or both. For December 2026 the paper-based test is on Sunday 20 December 2026 and the computer-based test is on Sunday 27 December 2026. The fee on that page is ₹2,300 for one mode and ₹4,000 for both. A candidate who takes both may send scores to seven management institutes instead of five. Graduates in any discipline may apply, and so may students in the final year of a graduate course. The pages read on 16 October 2026 do not offer a Hindi paper.

The score page on aima.in says each report has six scores. The five sections are reported on scales from 0 to 100. The composite score runs from 200 to 800 and is built from all five sections with equal weight. A percentile-below figure is given for each score. Raw scores are normalised before scaling, a step the page dates from the test of February 2021. The formula on that page uses a top share of scores whose size is not given a number, and it needs the whole session. This practice test has no cohort, so it reports the raw marks: 1 for a right answer and 0.25 off for a wrong one, from −7.5 to 30 in each section, adding to a total out of 150.
