About CMAT

The National Testing Agency conducts the Common Management Admission Test. The information bulletin for CMAT-2026 says NTA has conducted it since 2019, and that the All India Council for Technical Education conducted it until 2018. The score is accepted by AICTE-approved institutions, university departments, constituent colleges and affiliated colleges. NTA registers candidates, conducts the test and declares the result. It does not counsel or allot seats. Each participating institution sets its own cut-off and may add a group discussion and a personal interview.

The bulletin describes a three-hour computer-based test. The pattern table lists five sections of 20 questions and 80 marks each: Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Language Comprehension, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The total is 100 questions and 400 marks. The medium is English only. The same line appears on the public notice of 4 December 2025, which set the 2026 test for 25 January 2026 and the duration at 180 minutes.

Each question carries 4 marks. A right answer scores 4. A wrong answer takes away 1. An unanswered question scores 0. The bulletin says the candidate chooses one option as the correct option. It does not print how many options are shown. This practice test uses four. Appendix VII of the bulletin says the screen shows the remaining time in one place and that a candidate may move among questions by number. It does not mention a separate timer for each section. This practice test is one 180-minute clock for all five sections.

The bulletin says the examination may be held in more than one shift. For a multi-session paper, Appendix VIII turns raw marks into an NTA percentile. A single practice sitting has no cohort, so the result here is the raw sum, from a low of −100 to 400. The NTA examination calendar of 16 September 2026 lists CMAT as a tentative one-day test on 7 February 2027, and it says that calendar is not a notification. No CMAT 2027 information bulletin was on the CMAT website on 16 October 2026. This test follows the CMAT-2026 bulletin.
